Celebrating paid work for adults with learning disabilities
Last month we spent a day in the Roundhouse Studio Theatre disseminating what we have learnt during our Go inc to work programme, which enabled Artists with learning disabilities take the steps towards paid work in the performing arts.

The event was in in partnership with Heart n Soul and Trust for London. Heart n Soul talked about their project I Did That which provides training courses in stage management, lighting, sound and front of house for adults with learning disabilities. Both I Did That and Go inc to work were funded by Trust for London.
Over 50 people attended the event which featured presentations and performances from I Did That and Go inc to work leaders and participants, and a speech by Bharat Mehta of Trust for London. It was compared by David Munns who undertook the Go inc to work programme, and stage managed by Michael Rose, a graduate of I Did That.
In the afternoon all the attendees of the event discussed the barriers that people with learning disabilities face when entering and undertaking paid work, and came up with ideas and action points to take forward to help tackle some of the barriers in the future.
