Culture Minister reveals lack of knowledge

Just 7.5% of the Arts Council’s NPO funding goes to participatory arts. An excellent interview by mailout has revealed that Culture Minister Ed Vaizey has little of understanding of participatory arts or its benefits to society.

“Interesting and sad isn’t it that participatory arts is seen by our Minister of Culture as free ticket entry to museums and education work carried out by the major institutions. Not quite sure how raising the profile of participatory arts led onto mention of tick boxing and political correctness. Do we as a participatory arts “movement” need to pull together a campaign around ‘Participatory arts is……’ to educate folk of the beauty, depth and range of our work?”
