Spare Tyre awarded Arts Council funding, but what about other participatory arts organisations?

Spare Tyre is pleased to announce that we have been accepted as part of the the Arts Council England’s National Portfolio of arts organisations, with an uplift of 25%.

We are delighted that we will be able to continue to support our Company of Artists (currently including Artists with learning disabilities and Artists aged 60+), who will continue to tour unique and ground-breaking shows. We will continue our outreach work with people with learning disabilities older people, women, and emerging community artists across London. We will also be able to keep pushing forward and expand Connected Culture, the network celebrating adult participatory arts.

Despite the good news for Spare Tyre, we are very sad to see this is not reflected amongst our peers nationally. It is a difficult day for many participatory arts organisations whose funding has been slashed or cut completely. Our full support is behind all these organisations, our peers who put the ‘everyone’ into the Arts Councils’s ambition of ‘great art for everyone’.
