Fund a Bursary
At Spare Tyre we aim to be accessible across all areas. We recognise that Internships can be a vital entry point for emerging artists and arts administrators, but that unpaid internships are financially unsustainable for many, limiting the diversity of the industry.
We believe that paying is good practice and now aim to offer 4 bursaries a year to support our interns. We will provide meaningful, insightful placements where interns will gain practical experience working in a busy, lively, inclusive arts organisation. We will provide interns with financial support during their Internship to allow them to spend between 3 and 6 months, 5 days a week with Spare Tyre.
Interns will gain:
- Rich experience and new skills in working using an inclusive, empathetic and creative approach.
- Advice and guidance through mentoring from highly-trained artists and staff.
- The ability to go on to create organise and develop projects working with voiceless communities.
- The opportunity to build relationships to those in the industry, and forge a career path in participatory arts.
